Water Based Pitches
Surface
Unfilled or water based surfaces are currently mandatory for the final stages of hockey competitions such as the World Championships and Olympic events. The pure textile surfaces are irrigated and kept wet to control ball speed and help provide the other playing characteristics required at this level of hockey.
Manufactured from either nylon or polyethylene fibre, the extremely dense short pile carpets in our water based pitches are loose laid over a suitable shockpad layer and secured at the edges with a galvanised steel channel with clamp strip.
Shockpad
Not commonly designed for multi-sport use, a waterbased surface is generally laid over a shockpad that reduces dynamic forces and helps provide the other playing characteristics required at this level of hockey.
Civil Engineering
Our standard base specification is 300mm consolidated depth of suitable granular material with two layers of open textured tarmacadam. However, the civil engineering element of the facility will be designed for you having considered all of the site characteristics.
